Help us deliver the next generation of Cardiff Met's estate.
We're looking for an Estates Capital Project Officer to play a hands-on role in delivering projects across our Capital Programme and De-carbonisation Programme.
At Cardiff Met, we're investing in smarter, more sustainable and high-quality campus environments that support our students, colleagues and wider community. Ranked 1st in Wales in the People & Planet University League, we're turning our sustainability ambitions into action, backed by nearly £25M in low-interest loan funding to support our decarbonisation programme over the next four years.
You'll be joining a multi-award-winning team, recognised with the Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership, with the opportunity to contribute directly to the next generation of our estate.
You'll work across a varied portfolio of capital, refurbishment, infrastructure and decarbonisation projects, helping coordinate delivery from initial brief and planning through procurement and construction to completion and handover. You'll work closely with colleagues across Cardiff Met, consultants and contractors, helping keep projects organised, on track and focused on successful delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinating the day-to-day delivery of capital and decarbonisation projects, including programmes, budgets, risks and actions.
- Supporting project planning, procurement and construction delivery, including scopes, briefs and project documentation.
- Coordinating meetings, site activities, programmes, actions and project records.
- Supporting programme and portfolio reporting for senior stakeholders and governance groups.
- Supporting projects through construction, completion and handover, with a focus on safety, quality, sustainability and minimising disruption to university operations.
What you'll bring:
You'll be an organised, proactive and collaborative project professional with experience in capital project delivery within an estates, property or construction environment.
- Experience working with consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- An understanding of project management, construction, procurement and contract administration, with awareness of CDM, health and safety and statutory compliance.
- Experience monitoring project costs, programmes and quality, with the ability to analyse information and provide clear updates and recommendations.
- Strong organisation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
Benefits:
- Annual leave of 35 days, plus 12 bank holiday / concessionary days.
- Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme with generous contributions.
- Excellent family friendly policies.
- Opportunities to learn and develop your skills with access to library and digital services facilities.
- Excellent sports and fitness facilities with subsidised membership.
- Free family access to our independent specialist wellbeing support provider, Health Assured.
